Pollution

God created the earth: Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” He gave man dominion over the earth: Genesis 1:28b “Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 1:31 “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”

We are the caretakers of the Earth. God gave us this responsibility. Each of us are to be good stewards of the Earth. We should wisely use the resources that God has given us and take care of the earth.

But that has not been the case. When sin entered the world humans started to neglect their responsibilities as caretakers of the earth. Evidence of this can be seen in our oceans and what is washed up on shores. They are becoming more and more polluted. As sin pollutes our oceans, it also pollutes our hearts and causes us to trash our lives and those around us.

We need to remember that we are the caretakers of the earth and need to be responsible stewards.

As we see litter in the ocean or on the shores and are disgusted about it, we need to think of the litter in our own hearts and how that should disgust us as it disgusts God.

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Unchangeable

Malachi 3:6a “I the Lord do not change”.

1 Samuel 15:29 “Also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.”

How reassuring to know that the Lord, our God, does not change. Since He does not lie and has said that He does not change He would be a liar if He did change. How can He be trusted if He lies?

David wrote in Psalm 18:
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
   my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

If God kept changing how could He be my rock, my fortress, my deliverer? Where would I take refuge? Who would shield me, save me, be my stronghold?

Peter quotes Isaiah in 1 Peter 1:24-25
“All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Where do we learn about God? We learn about Him in His Word, the Bible. We learn His attributes and how to have a relationship with him. If His word doesn’t endure forever how would we know if He endures forever?

Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

If God changed how would we ever have the assurance that Jesus is the only way to Him? How could we be sure about our salvation?


Hebrews 13:8 ” Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

I am assured that He does not change because He is the same today as He was yesterday and will be the same tomorrow as He is today.

So no matter what I’m going through I am comforted knowing that God is my rock, is my fortress, is my deliverer. I can take refugee in Him and He will shield me. I know that I am forgiven and saved through Jesus, His Son. He is my stronghold so I can rest in Him. “And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ” Psalm 23:6b

Blessing Boutique, Part Two

When I started volunteering at the West Pasco Pregnancy Center it was in the boutique. At that time it was in a small room that had diapers, wipes and donated used baby clothing and accessories. My job was to sort through the bags of donations, restock the shelves, store the extra clothing and donate or dispose of what wasn’t usable.

I had been volunteering a couple of years when a new director was hired. After a few weeks on the job she came to me and said that she only wanted new items for the boutique. My immediate thought was, “That’s impossible.” We depended on donations of good used items from the public to stock the boutique and received very few new items. (besides diapers and wipes.) How would we ever get enough new items to keep it stocked?

A yard sale was held to dispose of the used clothing. The boutique was nearly empty so was looking very bare. I said a prayer to the Lord. I told him that I put the stocking of the boutique in His hands. It was up to Him on how it would get stocked.

Shortly after the prayer one of my friends asked me if the center could use some new infant clothing and accessories. She worked for a store that had left over stock from the old season. They were switching over to the new season and wanted to donate the old.

Around this time a nearby business called saying that they wanted to hold a baby shower for the center. Several civic organizations and churches at the same time had baby showers for the center. All of this without us asking for donations.

Most of the time when a group would have a baby shower for the center it would just be diapers and wipes. These showers had those but also had clothing and accessories, toiletries, blankets, hooded towels, rattles, pacifiers, and much more. We also had several groups of women knitting blankets, sweaters, caps and booties or sewing quilts.

The center gladly accepted all of these donations. It wasn’t too long before the boutique was restocked with all new items! Praise the Lord!

Here are current pictures of the Blessing Boutique in our new location. It’s continuing to be a blessing to Moms and their babies. We can not stock it with out the help of our community! Thanks to all who donate!
