Me? Pro Choice?

May 5, 2019 By carolyn Leave a Comment

My original plan was to start off with a controversial topic. Why? Because that’s what came to my mind first that restless night and I couldn’t avoid it just because it’s controversial. After experiencing that “God Moment” it had to come first so this one got delayed. Now it’s time to tackle it.

Anyone who knows me or has read my Facebook page know that I am strongly Pro-Life. So why this title? Because at one time that’s the way it was. If I was musing during my early “junior” years I would have said that I am against abortion, but I’m for the woman’s right to choose. It wasn’t a topic I thought about much, but over the course of a few years I came to realize that belief was an oxymoron. One cannot be against abortion yet for the woman’s right to choose. One is either for abortion or against it. For life or against it. There’s no middle ground. I had to make a choice. I chose life! The life of babies! The life of the elderly! The life of the physically/mentally challenged! The sanctity of all life!

My first foray in the Pro-Life movement was involvement with “Life Chain.” It was a new organization at that time. It started in the late 1980’s and continues to this day (lifechain.net). Life Chains are held the first Sunday in October. People hold pro-life signs along major roadways and also spend the time praying. I was involved with this group for several years.

During this time I advocated for life by writing a pro-life poem and mailing copies to my Senators and Representatives along with a letter in support of pro-life. I have a copy of the poem somewhere. When I find it I’ll post it in a future blog.

Even though for awhile I wasn’t active in the Pro-Life movement, I still believed in the sanctity of all life

In the mid 2000’s I again became actively involved in the Pro-Life movement by volunteering at a crisis pregnancy center doing office work and answering the phone. My time with the center ended when the center closed.

During the 2010’s I became involved with the West Pasco Pregnancy Center, http://pascopregnancy.com, and promoting pro-life on Facebook. In a future blog I’ll share more about what services are provided by the pregnancy center and the ways to support it. I also participated in several Walk for Life. http://www.newlifesolutions.org/walkforlife

There are many different ways to make a stand for life.

I’m for the sanctity of ALL life!

Psalm 139:13-14 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
